Leta Marquardt, 88, of Yankton died Tuesday (Nov. 13, 2007) at Sister James Nursing Home, Yankton.

She was born Dec. 25, 1919, in McCook County. Leta Stubbe married John Marquardt in 1938. She and her husband operated the Clayton store for 41 years. Her husband died in 1986.

She is survived by sons: Robert of Taiwan, Ralph (Lucille) of Yankton, Roland (Marceline) of Las Vegas, Nev., Raymond (Ivadell) of Yankton and John R. (Gale) of Yankton; daughters: Rita Erickson of Sioux Falls, Rosalita (John) Fritz of Brookings, Ruby (Norm) Prochnow of Alexandria, Minn., Ramona (Terrance) Schroeder of Alexandria and Renee (Mark) Hejna of Tabor; 27 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, LaVae (Roger) Marquardt of Parkston; and two sisters: Amelia Iburg of Mitchell and Viola (Kenneth) Terveen of Mitchell.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church of Yankton with burial at St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Clayton at 2:30 p.m.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Friday at Walter Funeral Home in Freeman. Prayer service is 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family will be gathering after the committal service Saturday at St. Peter's Church in Clayton.
