Meeting Minutes

Roy Anderson Post #12 held its annual membership dinner Saturday night ,Jan. 13, 2011 at the V.F.W. post home. The event was attended by 170 Legion and Aux members and their guests with several special guests in attendance, they where Dr. Carroll Isburg who was the guest speaker, Sophie Holtzman Girls State and her parents, Derek Dvorak Boys State with his father, and Doug Nelson along with Marcia Walter who represented the American Legion Baseball Association.

We would like to thank everybody for coming Saturday evening and would like to thank V.F.W. Post 791 for the use of their hall and Hy-Vee for another excellent meal.

The next Post #12 Legion meeting will be held on Feb. 10th, 2011 at 7:30 pm V.F.W. post home members welcome. 

Yankton Regional Aviation Association

 Twenty-nine members and guests of the Yankton Regional Aviation Association met on Jan. 16 at 6 p.m. in the terminal at the Chan Gurney Airport for a potluck supper meeting. Participants were from Menno, Tyndall, Utica, Vermillion, Yankton, Crofton, Hartington, and Randolph. Vice President Jim Eisenmenger called the meeting to order. Certificates of Appreciation were presented to past officers of Yankton EAA Chapter 1029: President John Lillevold, Vice President Eisenmenger, Treasurer Jacob Hoffner, Secretary Steve Hamilton, Young Eagles C-coordinators Dave Howard and Hamilton, and Newsletter Editor Hamilton. The group voted to increase the YRAA Flight Training Scholarship from $500 to $750. Hamilton presented Certificates of Appreciation to Ground Volunteers who helped at three Young Eagle events at Chan Gurney Airport in 2010: Jerry Bailey, Butch Becker, Gloria Becker, Gary Carlson, Rick Daugherty, Ethan Eide, Hanna Eide, Judy Eisenmenger, Alan Fenner, Pam Hamilton, Steve Hamilton, Marilyn Huntley, Ed Lammers, Lou Ella Machin, Bob Smith, and Jim Smith. Skip VanDerhule informed the group about the status of the new SD Airport Directory being prepared by the SD Office of Aeronautics. Denny Martens will be presenting a ground school refresher class on Feb. 13 at 1 p.m. at the Hartington Airport. For more information about the YRAA, call 665-8448. 


Interchange

Interchange Inc. met on Monday, Jan. 17, at Minervas Grill & Bar. President Paula Tacke invited members to introduce their guests, which included, Van Pace, Karen Miller, Katie Feimer and Dan Hunhoff. Hostess for the Program was Jean Hunhoff whose guest speaker was her daughter Abbey Hunhoff. Abbey presented on her experiences learning the role of a missionary in Mozambique, Africa through the organization Iris Ministries. She spent time there from October, 2010-December 2010.

Next week’s hostess will be Janet Jensen who will have Lisa Scheve and Katie Hunhoff give an update on The River Walk Project.

Interchange meets every Monday from Noon-1pm at Minervas Grill & Bar.
