Paulsen, Ryerson Join WSC Staff
WAYNE, Neb. — Wayne State College men’s basketball coach Paul Combs has announced the hiring of two new assistant coaches for the 2009-10 season. Tim Ryerson will join the Wildcat men’s basketball program as the assistant coach while Paige Paulsen will serve as graduate assistant coach under Combs.
Ryerson comes to Wayne State College after serving the last four seasons as an assistant at Methodist University in Fayetteville, N.C.
Paulsen is a native of Custer, that brings a wealth of basketball experience to the Wildcat program. He starred collegiately at Division I Wisconsin-Milwaukee from 2005-2008 where Paulsen was a two-year captain and starter, leading the team in scoring and rebounding in his senior season to earn Second Team All-Horizon League honors. As a junior, he led Wisconsin-Milwaukee in rebounding and was named to the Horizon League All-Newcomer Team. Following his collegiate career, Paulsen played professionally one season in Spain in 2008.
Paulsen was a standout high school player at Custer, where he was named South Dakota’s Mr. Basketball in 2003 to go with Gatorade and South Dakota Coaches Association Player of the Year honors after scoring 1,790 points during his high school career. He was a three-time All-State performer and a four-time All-Black Hills Conference selection at Custer High School.
