SCL: Crofton’s Sturm Tosses Two-Hitter

CROFTON, Neb. — Crofton pitcher Mike Sturm took a no-hitter into the ninth inning and finished with a complete game two-hitter as the Bluejays defeated Wynot 6-1 in South Central League action Friday night in Crofton.

Sturm, who struck out eight, allowed a single to Wynot’s Chase Rolfes to lead off the top of the ninth inning. Matt Hames later singled and Rolfes would score on a Crofton error.

Scot Donner homered for the league-leading Bluejays (12-1), while Chad Guenther doubled and singled, and Joe Wiebelhaus added two singles. Nick Hegge, Bill Guenther, Aaron Losing, Carl Schieffer and Corey Beacom all singled in the win.

Scott Morrison pitched into the seventh inning for Wynot, but took the loss. Isaac Beeck pitched the final two innings for the Expos (7-6).

On Sunday night, Wynot is at Scotland. Next Tuesday, Crofton hosts Lesterville.
