Highway 18 Chip-Seal Project Under Way
The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) will be chip sealing a 17.0 mile section of US Highway 18 from the intersection of US 81 east to South Dakota Highway 19. The chip seal should be completed by July 10, weather permitting.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane. A short delay can be expected while traveling through the work area. Loose gravel will be present for a period of 36 to 72 hours after each day’s chip seal application. Traffic should travel at 40 MPH during this time frame. The permanent pavement marking is scheduled to be applied within 14 days of completion of the chip seal.
The prime contractor for the project is The Road Guy Construction from Yankton.
