Pound Count
Several animals are available at the Yankton Animal Shelter. For more information call the Yankton Police Department’s Animal Control Officer, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday at 661-9494, or 668-5210. A $5 fee is required to adopt an animal. Animals can be viewed on the Humane Society Web site at www.heartlandhumanesociety.net.
Animals available for adoption include:
• a neutered male Weimaraner;
• a male Australian Shepherd;
• a female tri-colored Terrier;
• a tri-colored, medium-sized female dog that was found at the Kelly Inn;
• a female pug; and
• a male buff-colored cat.

Accidents
• A vehicle driven by Nicklaus Wright, Gettysburg, slid on some ice in the 700 block of Locust and collided with a parked vehicle. Estimated value of the damage to the vehicles was $251 and $672, respectively.
• A 1999 Ford pickup driven by Dallas Ouderkirk, Yankton, collided with a parked vehicle in the 900 block of Broadway at 11:14 a.m. Wednesday.
• A 1999 Lincoln Town Car driven by Egon Weber collided with a 1991 Chevy Corsica driven by Eric Reed in the 900 block of West City Limits Road at 12:49 p.m. Wednesday. Estimated value of the damage to the vehicles was $971 and $1,161, respectively. Weber was cited for a stop sign violation.
• A vehicle driven by Alex Hohenthaner collided with a parked vehicle in the 400 block of West 12th St. at 11:11 a.m. Thursday. Estimated value of the damage to the vehicles was $599 and $450, respectively.
• A vehicle driven by Shirley Hamilton, Volin, collided with a deer on 451st Ave. near 301st St. at 6:28 p.m. Tuesday. Estimated value of the damage to the vehicle was $800.
• A vehicle driven by John Davis, Yankton, collided with a deer on Highway 52 near Kingsley Lane at 5:51 p.m. Thursday.

• William Thomas Bennett, 22, Yankton, was arrested at 3:19 a.m. Wednesday for driving under the influence (first). He was released at 9:09 a.m. Wednesday on $500 bond.
• Travis Christopher Boyer, 23, Yankton, was arrested at 2:36 a.m. Thursday for driving under the influence (first). He was released at 3:28 a.m. Thursday on $500 bond.
• Cheryl Ann Hoffman, 55, Yankton, was arrested at 2:01 a.m. Thursday for driving under the influence (first). She was released at 2:56 a.m. Thursday on $500 bond.
• Ruth Ann Johnson, 49, Wausa, Neb., was arrested at 3:41 a.m. Wednesday for driving under the influence (first). She was released at 4:55 a.m. Wednesday on $500 bond.
• Kathryn Anne Lecher, 41, Yankton, was arrested at 12:31 p.m. Tuesday on a bench warrant. She was released at 1:36 p.m. Tuesday on $150 bond.
• Tyler Dean Mahoney, 37, Watertown, was arrested at 9:42 a.m. Tuesday for parole violation.
• Cerenthia Fern McCloud, 51, Yankton, was arrested at 11:52 p.m. Wednesday for simple assault. She was being held on $500 bond.
• Kayla Lynn Novak, 21, Yankton, was arrested at 10:49 a.m. Thursday on two bench warrants. She was released at 11:27 a.m. Thursday on $202 bond.
• Christopher Kenneth Pokorney, 25, Yankton, was arrested at 3:58 a.m. Thursday for driving under the influence (second). He was released at 4:39 a.m. Thursday on $500 bond.
• Alysia Marie Retzlaff, 19, Yankton, was arrested at 6:27 p.m. Wednesday for simple assault. She was released at 6:47 p.m. Wednesday on $500 bond.
• Gary Lynn Sampson, 46, Yankton, was arrested at 12:18 a.m. Thursday for parole violation. He was released at 4:24 p.m. Thursday.
• Christopher Lynn Smith, 45, Yankton, was arrested at 7:02 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for another agency. He was released at 7:27 p.m. Thursday on $225 bond.
• A 15-year-old Yankton juvenile was arrested at 10:41 p.m. Tuesday for simple assault, possession of marijuana and probation violation. The subject was released at 1:04 a.m. Wednesday.
Incidents
• A business in the 1000 block of Broadway reported at 8:52 a.m. Wednesday that a male had stolen a pack of beer valued at $11.49.
• A report was received at 10:12 a.m. Wednesday that a gold ring was stolen from an apartment in the 1700 block of Locust.
• A report was received at 10:53 p.m. Wednesday of a fight in the 100 block of East Third St. A male fled the scene but was later located nearby. He was told not to return to the downtown establishment from which he had come.
• A report was received at 12:04 p.m. Friday that a burglary and assault took place in the 600 block of East 13th St. A woman reported that her door was damaged by a male, and a man said the suspect had assaulted him. He did not want to press charges for the assault, but the suspect was charged with intentional damage to property.
• A woman was arrested on Mulligan Drive after another woman reported that she had been assaulted. Authorities said alcohol was a factor in the incident, which was reported at 11:19 p.m. Dec. 12.
