Bernie Hunhoff Selected For Leadership Post

A former Yankton lawmaker who is returning to the state Legislature in January has been named to a top leadership post.

District 18 Democrat Bernie Hunhoff, who won election to the State House in last week’s election, has been named as his minority leader in that chamber, it was announced Friday.

Re-elected as Senate Minority Leader was Scott Heidepriem of Sioux Falls.

Republican legislators are expected to choose their leaders this weekend.

Sen. Dave Knudsen of Sioux Falls is the current GOP leader in the Senate.


House Republican Leader Larry Rhoden of Union Center has won a Senate seat, leaves an opening for the top spot in the House.
