“Halloween at the Legion Auxiliary”
‘Tis the season,
For black and orange,
And funny faces.
There’s a chill in the air
And as I’m standing here on the street
There’s a sight to behold!
I don’t know if I should laugh or cry.
In my view, I see
All shapes and sizes —
Gray hair mostly, curled or straight,
Mostly short —
Only low heeled or flat shoes — no four-inchers.
They are mostly in black —
Some sort of “cult” or “American Legion?”
And would you believe
They are hobbling as fast as they can
Right into that Bar —
I can’t take any more of this,
I’m going down another street.
Can you imagine what shape
They are going to be in when
They come out?
Happy Halloween!
