Biker Trial Focuses On Who Fired 1st Shot
SIOUX FALLS (AP) — Testimony at the Sioux Falls trial of two Hells Angels focused Thursday on who fired the first shot — a man fitting the description of one of the defendants, a rival biker or maybe a third shooter.
Hells Angels bikers Chad Wilson of Lynnwood, Wash., and John Midmore of Valparaiso, Ind., are charged with attempted murder for injuring five Outlaws Motorcycle Club members in 2006 at Custer State Park.
Witnesses say they saw a man near a white pickup — supposedly Wilson — start the gunfight and that one of the Outlaws grabbed a gun and returned fire as the truck sped away.
But during cross-examination, a defense lawyer has questioned whether the Outlaws biker fired the first shot, or maybe a third shooter was involved.
