Toastmaster Officers’ Training Held
International Toastmaster Area 62 Governor, Janice Stone, held officers’ training for Avera Sacred Heart Hospital Toastmaster’s Club 6217 at noon Sept. 4 in the board room.
Using handbooks describing the duties of each officer, she told the group how to achieve distinguished club status. Stone, along with guests, Lena Chilton and Matt Parkinson, were introduced by Toastmaster Jennifer Wubben.
After Candyce Kotalik’s invocation, General Evaluator Steve Anderson named his team. They were: Grammarian David Fiebelkorn initiating “robust” as the word of the day; timer Chris Wortmann handling the lighting; Mary Ann Wortmann counting the unneeded “um, ah;” and Sheryl Schwartz evaluating Stone’s presentation.
Muriel Stach used Chinese fortune cookies as Table Topics starters. Jen Hovland, Laura Schmidt, Chilton, Parkinson and Greg Stach were to relate the fortune they received to a 2008 political candidate’s future.
Wubben presented trophies to Stone for Best Speaker, Stach for Best Table Topics Respondent, and Schwartz for Evaluator of the Day.
