Ralph Nader Campaigns In South Dakota
SIOUX FALLS (AP) — Presidential candidate Ralph Nader brought his campaign to South Dakota over the weekend, criticizing the federal bailout, ethanol subsidies and the Iraq war.
Congress, he says, should tax stock transactions and allow Wall Street to restore its financial well-being. Also, Congress should invest in public works projects, Nader says, adding that estimates conclude there is $1.5 trillion in deferred maintenance on public facilities.
Nader says a federal subsidy for corn-based ethanol is poor policy. He says it supports an inefficient fuel source and that the land otherwise could produce grains to feed people.
If elected president, Nader says he would end the Iraq war in six months.
