Select Parks Taking Reservations Through Oct. 6
PIERRE — Eight of South Dakota’s State Parks will continue taking camping reservations through Oct. 6 after which, camping switches to a first come, first served basis. First come, first served camping began on Sept. 1 for the rest of the state parks.
Campers can make reservations into the fall at the following parks:
• Big Sioux Recreation Area near Brandon
• Custer State Park near Custer
• Newton Hills State Park near Canton
• Snake Creek Recreation Area near Platte
• Lewis and Clark Recreation Area near Yankton
• Lake Herman State Park near Madison
• Walkers Point Recreation Area near Madison
• Palisades State Park near Garretson
Camping cabins can be reserved year-round 90 days prior to arrival. Custer State Park accepts reservations for all arrival dates during the park’s reservation season beginning in January. Lodges can also be reserved year-round. Large group reservations can be made Nov. 1 through Feb. 1 for 2009 arrival dates.
